Hark Announces New RF Monitor for Trunked and Two-way Radio Systems

Hark has developed a new RF power monitoring system for two way and trunked radio systems. The PPM-8 monitors the transmitted power activity and also the power level to determine normal system operation. When the transmitter is idle for longer than the field settable timeout, or the power level drops below a field settable level, the PPM-8 will set an alarm contact. The PPM-8 features individual alarm contacts for each channel monitored as well as a common alarm output. The individual alarm outputs can be either a contact closure or supply a nominal 12 VDC to control backup equipment or communicate the channel failure to the trunking controller.
The PPM-8 is compatible with the DM-32 Site Monitor for remote access and delivery of the alarm contact to a NOC or appropriate service facility. Read more...
FCC Ok's waiver

The FCC approved the waiver requested by Global Signal (now CrownCastle) to eliminate quarterly light inspections due to the accuracy of the reporting by Hark's monitoring products. It was shown that there were no undetected failures found during the manual quarterly inspections conducted over a period of years. The reliability and accuracy of the Hark monitoring products has proven to be a labor saving and money saving tool for tower site owners. The elimination of this labor intensive operation will save millions of dollars a year.
