April 2021

In April, we have introduced some new functionality into Energy Tools, a Heat Map! We also worked to improve some back-end functionality of the Platform for future enhancements.

We have made some Platform back-end improvements to help our product grow, as well as released the visual aid of a Heat Map for Datasets and Meters in in Energy Tools.

Heat Maps:

We are excited about our newest bit of functionality, the Heat Maps in Energy Tools! Heat Maps allow you to visually see your data and identify potential issues or positive changes. Now, when viewing a Dataset or an individual Meter, tapping the Heat Map button will present you with a beautiful Heat Map of your consumption.

The Heat Map pulls your energy consumption for the selected Dataset or Meter and displays it in a colourful format so that you can spot trends and outliers over the selected time-period. By using the date selector, you can alter the timescale of the Heat Map by selecting the dates and times specifically or by using the pre-set periods.

There is also a snazzy navigator at the bottom of the modal, which acts as a colour key. It helps to show you where on the spectrum the block of colour that your cursor is hovering over sits.

With the Heat Map in Energy Tools, you can dig in and present your data in a helpful way to visually show an event or trend.

Energy ToolsAlongside the Heat Maps, we have also worked on some bug fixes.

March 2021

In March, we have released various functionality across Energy Tools, Analytics, Device Management and Loss Prevention! March has been a fantastic month for the Hark Platform. Today, we’re releasing a wonderful new Data Quality display in Energy Tools, and a whole bunch of changes to Analytics, Device Management and Loss Prevention.

Enhanced Date & Time Selection

This month we’re releasing our new Date & Time selector into the Hark Platform. We’ve employed this new date time picker in the Analytics module for the Sensor and Sensor Group graphs, as well as the Categorised Alerts graph in the Loss Prevention module.

Before this change, when selecting a date range for a graph in the Hark Platform you couldn’t input the time! Now, you can select a date range and enter a more specific time to help gain visibility over your data. You can also use the handy pre-set periods on the left of the picker to quickly dig into your data over the last 30 minutes, to the last 24 hours.

Analytics – The new date and time picker has been employed on the Sensor Group and Sensor graphs in the Analytics module.

Energy Tools – We’ve made some fantastic improvements to the experience of our new Data Quality & Validation features in Energy Tools, as well as fixing some bugs while we’re at it!

Vision – The new date and time picker has been employed on the Categorised Alerts graphs in the Loss Prevention module. We’ve also added some extra categories for Alerts.

Alongside new features, we’ve fixed some bugs and implement architecture improvements to boost performance and support larger-scale rollouts.

August 2020

This month we’ve added helpful analytical features to the Energy Tools module and have introduced a new Loss Prevention module!

In August we’ve worked hard to add some great new analytical features to the Energy Tools module including weather data overlays, zoomable graphs, improvements to our forecasting tools and more.

Loss Prevention Module

In this release we’ve added a brand-new Loss Prevention module to the Hark Platform. With our Loss Prevention technology, we can help reduce shrinkage (loss) in industries such as retail with self-checkouts, and more.

When you have your self-checkouts setup in our Loss Prevention module, you can start to analyse the amount of loss at your facilities. You can see helpful things such as your estimated loss over 7 days, the hourly period in which your loss it at the highest, how much this cost you and what products face the highest loss.

You can find out more about our Loss Prevention Technology here.

Energy Tools – Amongst improving our forecasting tools, we’ve made some great improvements to the analysis features in the Energy Tools module this month.

Weather Data Overlays

Now users can overlay weather data on their consumption profiles in order to analyse the impact of local weather on their energy consumption. To use the weather data overlays, simply toggle on the overlay by clicking the Temperature button on the top right.

Metadata Uploading

You can now upload metadata against a dataset in the Energy Tools module for the dataset itself and each meter inside of it. This metadata could be things like the meters MPAN, postcode and other internal information such as an internal meter name and more.
Although this metadata is not currently displayed or used within the module at the moment, metadata will play an important part in the future analysis features of the Energy Tools module allowing users to filter datasets down by this metadata, and more.

Bug Fixes

Amongst various fixes and improvements to the user interface, stability and performance we’ve fixed:

  • Forecasts can now only be created when a dataset contains the minimum amount of required data.
  • The forecasts view now contains helpful tooltips with information to explain the data being presented.
  • When viewing a forecast on a mobile, various controls in the header were not previously visible. This has been fixed.
