May 2019

In the month of May we focussed a lot of our attention on fixing some of the bugs that have been found by users of the Platform over time. We have however added and improved some features, including Auditing for Users, added Searchable Lists for the Analytics module and finalised other parts of the Platform.

Password Complexity Requirements

In this months release we decided to firm up some of the password complexity requirements of the Hark Platform for users requesting a password reset or updating their password through the User Settings interface. With this change, users are now required to have a password of at least 8 characters in length which can be characters of numbers, and not just a set of spaces.

Finalised Wording for Custom Dashboards

Following the initial release of Custom Dashboards, we’ve refined some of the wording around Custom Dashboards, Widgets and their edit forms in order to make it clearer for our users!

Analytics

Time-Zone Exports

Enabling a Time-Zone Export for a Sensors Data Export

Users can now export data from the Hark Platform in their local Time Zone. When attempting to export Sensor Data, Averaged Sensor Data, Audit Logs or Alert Logs, users are now presented with a checkbox which if ticked will allow them to select a Time Zone to export their data in. This is helpful if you are wanting to see your data in your time zone and not UTC.

Bugs Fixed

As previously mentioned, we’ve fixed some bugs inside of the Monitoring module of the Hark Platform, including:

  • The Alert Graph when viewing an Alert in the Hark Platform now shows a better range of data, with the Alert Triggered line being in the correct place.
  • The “Value on Alert Triggered“ metric is no longer empty and will show the correct value.
  • An unhelpful message was shown when attempting to delete a Location that had Hark Hubs active against the Location, it should now be more helpful to users trying to understand why they are not allowed to do this.
  • You can no longer delete Locations that have Gateways active against them.
  • Adding a Sensor Relay to a Hub now automatically updates the Hubs Audit Log table.

Updated Auditing for Users

We’ve been reviewing our user auditing internal and found some areas in which the auditing against a user in the Hark Platform could be updated. Because of that, the following changes have been made:

  • Users who are managing a user also get an Audit Log entry in their Audit Log to say that they performed an action. Example, “User A deactivated user B’s account.” - this would show up in both of the Users Audit Log.
  • Activation & disabling of users are now audited.
  • Password request changes of users are now audited.
  • Changes in roles for a user are now audited.
  • Changes to a users details are now audited.
