What do you do at Hark and what attracted you to this role?
I am currently an Account Manager at Hark, having joined the company as an Account Coordinator in November 2023. I was attracted to the role to further develop my Account Management skills, as my previous roles have always had Account Management responsibilities without the out-and-out title. It’s fair to say that I’ve been successful in my aim, as I have recently been promoted to Account Manager!
What does an average day look like for you?
Every day is different, but there certainly are a few constants… my day is often spent liaising between customers and internal teams. I work closely with customers to help them understand their key business objectives and how to meet them with energy and cost saving initiatives, whilst also working closely with the Product and Solutions Team to make sure these objectives are met.
What’s your favourite part of working at Hark?
The people. I feel privileged to work in a workforce that is fun, diverse and extremely capable! For me, the people at Hark are what make work feel less like work. Aside from this, I love that Hark put their utmost trust into me and my work. This gives me the freedom to explore ideas and excel in my role, without being limited by micromanagement.
What is your advice for anybody who is considering a role in Account Management?
Make sure you’re ready to work in a customer facing role and able to develop multiple business relationships whilst managing them all simultaneously. Other than that, just go for it! Challenges often arise; but with the right attitude and effort, seeing satisfied customers and developing meaningful business relationships will quickly show that the fruits of your labour are worth the effort.
What was your dream job as a child and how does your current job compare?
Probably playing for Leeds United or a world touring drummer; it’s safe to say that neither of these came to fruition… Nevertheless, as a child I always took interest to technology and problem solving, which are two things that I get to engage in every day at work.
What do you like to spend time doing when you’re not at work?
In my spare time I play multiple instruments, produce music and DJ across various venues in Leeds. I feel blessed that Hark are supportive of employees’ external interests and it’s great to be surrounded by other musical people too!
