Alex Hits a C# – A New String to Hark’s Bow

The Hark team continues to grow and we’d like to introduce you to Alex McNair, our newest Software Engineer!

Alex’s role as a Hark engineer is to develop and maintain the Hark Platform. But not before a good cup of coffee!

Alex came into the tech industry relatively late in his career, his background is in Maths, Accounting and Economics. Having said that, he has worked in various tech roles over the past 11 years. His roles were in support, training, service introduction, but he predominantly focussed on software architecture and engineering, which he loves!

He has worked as a consultant for the last 2 years, spending most of that time working with the NHS. Alex was in charge of building an electronic patient record system for the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, but has also worked with NHS Digital and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. Before this, he worked as an engineer in different sectors, building IT support tools at Aviva, EPoS systems at Costcutter and working with various CMS platforms at search agency Branded3. Alex feels so lucky to love his job and outside of work he also contributes to various open source projects.

Alex has numerous hobbies which include music, sport and software writing. He enjoys playing golf and squash but most of his time is devoted to music. He plays guitar in a band called “The Bastard Sons” and has toured in the UK and the US.
