Castell partners with Hark to integrate IoT into Salvo Loading Bay Safety Systems

Castell Safety International, a UK company with a rich history dating back to 1922, has partnered with Hark to further develop its loading bay safety system, Salvo. This partnership has enabled a complete solution for Castell customers, by introducing IoT software into the mix.

Castell trapped key interlocks have been used as part of integrated safety systems throughout the Castell product catalogue, including ‘Salvo Loading Bay Safety Systems.’ These are designed to prevent drive-aways at the loading bay by eliminating the risk of human error in order to protect people and assets. The Salvo Loading Bay solution, locks the trailer brakes so the vehicle can’t depart whilst it is still being loaded.

As a partner of Hark, Castell will be able to white label Hark’s IoT platform and use it as part of their Salvo solution, giving their customers visibility of data at loading bays. Hark technology provides the streaming of real-time data into custom dashboards from Castell devices, which creates a more robust solution for Castell customers. This software will help to reduce risk even further, improve productivity, and provide a platform to ensure everything is working as it should be.

Castell customers will have access to powerful IoT features such as custom dashboards, the Hark automations and rules engine, usage information and alerts, digital audit logs and more.

Hark also provides technology consulting and support for Castell, meaning their customers are fully provisioned with the technology, software and support they’ll need for total assurance of safety at loading bays.

Aparna Narayanan, Marketing, Product & Technology Director of Castell said this about the project: “Having reviewed different software providers, Hark was the clear winner not only for their depth of expertise around hardware connectivity but also the rich feature selection of their platform – providing, not only visibility of data, but alerting, control and automation as well.”

Mike Jeffs, Chief Commercial Officer at Hark said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Castell, industry leaders in interlocking and safety components. Both Hark and Castell know retail, distribution, logistics and heavy plant works extremely well and it’s great to combine our expertise to offer a single, safe and secure solution.”

“With the Hark platform, Castell customers will be able to access critical health and safety insights and take action in real time to ensure the safety and wellbeing of loading bays.”
